Prophet Release 7.1 has now been despatched
31 January 2003
The CD and accompanying bulletins for Release 7.1 of Prophet have been despatched to all clients.
The main system enhancements that have been made to Prophet in Release 7.1 are listed below.
- Increase in the limit on the number of sub-product codes from 99 to 9999.
- Performance enhancements. Release 7.1 is typically about 10% to 15% faster than Release 7.0, although it can be much faster than this if you make extensive use of calculation looping, rebasing or goal seeking in your products.
- Option to use the Intel C++ compiler instead of the Borland C++ compiler. On Pentium 4 PCs products compiled using the Intel C++ compiler are typically about 75% faster than those compiled using the Borland C++ compiler.
- Enhancements to in-memory dynamic processing which make it easier to use and give faster performance.
- Ability to use variable groups to specify the variables in projection results, individual model point results and stochastic results.
- Enhancements to Model Office Build View, including Outlook style views, a separate Model Point Files tab and a tree on each tab to enable you to select a subset of the objects on the tab.
- Enhancements to Model Office Run View, including a new Diagram view and a new Structure view that enables you to see the products and accumulations organised in a tree structure based on level number.
- Enhancements to the new Table Editor that was first included in Model Office Run View in Release 7.0 so that it can now be used in all the views and also provides full table editing functionality.
- Ability to specify constraints on the values that variables can have, with validation based on these constraints in the Table Editor.
- Enhancements to the charting facilities, including the ability to easily save chart settings. In addition, a number of default charts for reporting on stochastic results have been supplied.
- The actuarial documentation can now be displayed in a pane at the bottom of many of the Prophet screens thereby making it much more accessible.
- Time dependent extended formulas.
The main enhancements in Release 7.1 of DCS compared to Release 7.01 are as follows:
- The ability to specify that each grouped model point has to represent a minimum number of policies, expressed either as a number or as a percentage of the total. Any model points that fall below the minimum will be combined with model points that represent a larger number.
- The ability to include user defined procedures and functions and to split the code into several segments.
- Additional facilities for dealing with errors and other unexpected features in the input files.
- The option to use the Intel C++ compiler as an alternative to the Borland C++ compiler has been provided. This compiler gives faster run time performance.
- A specific option has been provided for reading Model Point format input files which makes it easier to set up programs to read model point files, particularly if several files are being read which each contain different variables.
Full details of all the enhancements are given in the bulletins that accompany the release.
