Introduction to Prophet

Overview

As our recommended "entry level" course, this two day course contains both actuarial input and participative exercises for hands on experience of the main stages of developing a Prophet product. This course is suitable for delegates who have little experience with Prophet and less than 18 months' experience in an actuarial environment.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates will have set up a liability product and experienced the main issues that are likely to arise when modelling products. They will have generated and run profit tests, set up test data, reported on the results, checked the product and then debugged it. During this they will make actuarial type decisions about a product, assess what effect those decisions have on its results and report on that product.

Pre-requisites

Delegates must:

• be comfortable with the basics of the Windows operating system, including managing files and the concepts of drives and folders.
• be able to use Excel spreadsheets, including entering formulas into cells.
